Garner's play mines the relationships between Herod, Pilate, Judas and Caiaphas to reveal their the fears and motivations. This back-story contextualizes Jesus in his time. But it also opens up his story. Whether used in church or in another setting, the Galilean will open up the gospel for its audience.
